A Cavan Councillor says "the chances of being hit by a bus in Bailieborough remain low", despite the recent Connecting Ireland proposals.
The National Transport Authority has proposed an overall increase of around 25% in rural bus services as part of the five-year Connecting Ireland plan.
It says 70% of people in rural Ireland will have access to a public transport service that provides at least three return trips daily to the nearby town.
Sarah O'Reilly says the plans will not deliver additional bus routes for Bailieborough and has raised concerns about the travel needs of those who cannot afford a car.
At a recent sitting of the County Council, she sought a meeting with NTA officials in the coming weeks.
