A Cavan Councillor has been elected the first Chair of the regional women's caucus.
The Midlands, Northern and Western Women's Regional Caucas Group is represented by female councillors across 13 local authorities, and will be chaired by Cootehill's Carmel Brady.
The aim of the group is to recognise the barriers to women entering politics and work to improve better representation in local elections.
