A Cavan councillor has called on the Health Minister to ensure any remaining restrictions on maternity units are lifted.
Updated HSE guidelines allow two-hour visits for women in wards, however, no restrictions apply for visits to those in private rooms.
Despite this, Councillor Shane P O'Reilly says he has been contacted by people whose partner was not granted access during birth or appointments.
He says this has caused a lot of "upset, especially where the outcome isn't a happy one".
