A Cavan councillor and publican has called for "urgent supports" for the hospitality, tourism, and music industry.
Brendan Fay told a recent county Council meeting that the hospitality industry is "on its knees and just hanging on by a thread".
He passed a motion seeking the Tánaiste Leo Varadkar to implement "urgent supports" similar to those that were offered during the first lockdown.
Councillor Fay said some businesses are closed due to the current restrictions and says these supports would allow "everyone to get back to businesses as soon as possible".
He also highlighted how there were many pubs that would be closed by this time next year.
Meanwhile, Councillor Sarah O'Reilly voiced concern that many hospitality businesses won't make it through the current period of restrictions without further support.
