A Cavan Councillor is calling for a review of what conferences local representatives are invited to.
Sinn Fein's Paddy McDonald was speaking after an RTÉ investigation into expenses claims, which featured three local councillors.
He's questioned the benefit of attending some of these events, saying that some people are "only going for the sake of going and signing in".
McDonald added he and his party colleagues didn't claim any expenses for attending conferences during the last council term.
He told Northern Sound News that the money could be put to better use.
