A proposal for a traffic calming and pavement scheme on a section of the N3 in Virginia has been put forth by Cavan County Council.
The proposed development, which seeks to improve pedestrian safety, will include the upgrading of the existing T-junction on New Street and the Ballyjamesduff Road to provide a new continental-style Roundabout Junction.
Street and public realm improvement works will also be carried out along Virginia Main Street.
This will include the provision of upgraded footpaths, car parking, street furniture, and the undergrounding of overhead lines.
The development will also see the relocation of bus stop facilities to the North end of Main Street.
Taking to social media, Ballyjamesduff councillor Shane P O’Reilly said it is an excellent scheme that will transform the streetscape and enhance the town of Virginia.
Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection, at the planning offices of Cavan County Council by appointment only due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
Submissions or observations on the proposed development must be made in writing and reach the Forward Planning Section before 5pm on the 6th of August.
