A Cavan businessman has launched a new venture to give GAA players across the country an opportunity to live and work within their local communities. Kevin Meehan from Co Cavan is the business development manager of GAA Works.ie According to Kevin the online employment initiative plays a "central role" in creating jobs locally.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, Kevin says the whole idea is to promote local businesses along with their job opportunities through various GAA clubs throughout the country. He added that in-turn, this will show young people that there is plenty of great career opportunities throughout the country.
Kevin continued; "We are trying to show young people that there are plenty of great career opportunities throughout the country. Very often we put a magnifying glass on the negative side of employment opportunities, but we’re trying to turn that around and create a positive action and hopefully keep a lot of GAA players playing, living and working in their local communities.
"With almost 2,000 GAA clubs in Ireland , 500 more globally and over 100,000 registered players , GAA Works.ie Player Pathway employment initiative seeks to help young players fulfil their ambitions working close to home for the betterment of the community while continuing to represent their local GAA teams."
