A County Cavan Insurance broker says people whose property has been damaged by Storm Éowyn will be insured - provided they have storm damage cover included in their policy.
Benny Sheridan of Sheridan Insurances in Lurganboy said the policy document is "where it all happens" as it will tell people their level of excess and cover. In the first instance, people should report any incidents to their broker or insurer as soon after the storm passes as possible. Providing photos of the damage will help, he adds.
The second stage in the process is to quantify the loss and this can be done either by yourself, your builder or a loss assessor, who will charge a fee for their professional service.
