A Cavan-based wind energy company has been granted permission for the construction of an energy storage system.
Gaeltech has been granted ten-year planning permission for the project at Aghaway, which will have a lifespan of 25 years.
The works will see Gaeltech construct an energy storage system between Stradone and Tullyvin, comprising of a single storey control building with fencing of close to three metres, in addition to containerised energy storage modules.
The works will also include heating, ventilation and air conditioning units, underground electrical and telecommunications cabling, an electrical transformer, and a CCTV security system.
A full decommission of the site is planned to take place when it's lifespan has passed.
