A Co Cavan bakery is set to increase its bread price on Monday week due to the rising costs in fuel and ingredients.
Barney Cully of Cully's Bakery in Arva says the company absorbed additional costs so far, but can no longer continue in that vein.
Mr Cully said that while the cost of flour has not increased dramatically, the price of a loaf of bread is set to rise, none-the-less.
He envisages this will happen again before Christmas.
The local business man says the cost of fuel, transport, oil and sugar has culminated in an increase in the overall price of food.
"I still reckon there will be another price increase before Christmas," continued Mr Cully.
"A lot depends on where you are getting ingredients from.
"We got a lot of stock in advance and that is coming to an end.
"And, Monday week we will see a fairly good rise on on bread because we can't carry on indefinately."
