Cavan Arts Festival kicks off this Thursday, May the 18th, and there is plenty in store to suit young and old. Described as a magical four days and nights of art and culture in the heart of Cavan Town, this year's line up is fantastic.
Speaking to Northern Sound, organiser, Kim McCafferty, explained how this is the event's sixth year and is going from strength to strength since its inception in 2018. She says the festival welcomes everyone in a world that is emerging divisive in political and social media spheres.
Kim added that it also provides a safe and creative space for children and teenagers, and brings communities from across the county together. "We are an independent arts festival set up by a group of artists and friends.
"When we approach Cavan County Council, we get great help and support in as much as it possibly can. Other organisations involved include Creative Ireland and the Arts Council of Ireland.
"Volunteers are a key part of it as well. We are a not for profit festival and are all volunteering, and we are thrilled to work with all the groups that we do work with from the youth orchestra and youth drama groups to the Mens Shed and Hens Shed members," she said.
