Cavan artist Kim Gaffney is launching her exhibition titled 'The Four Season's' in the Cavan County Museum next Thursday, November 24th.
This exhibition, supported by the Cavan Arts Office, includes the artist's collection of circular paintings that inspired by local flora and fauna which will run in the Eden Gallery of the Cavan County Museum until Saturday 17th December.
The unique range of circular paintings are inspired by Kim's love of wildlife and country living. She is enthusiastically reviving the renaissance trend of 'Tondos' or circular art.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Kim revealed “I wanted to create art that is unique and fits softly into the environment, to provide a lens view, naturally drawing the eye in.
“The collection centres on the theme of the four seasons and includes an array of wildlife and floral paintings each inspired by the time of year they flourish."
Kim started her art business selling her original art, limited edition prints and cushions online in 2021 and her business has grown in the past 16 months and this is her second solo exhibition.
Kim's work has appeared on national newspapers and magazines and is stocked in the Design Loft, Powerscourt House and Gardens in Co Wicklow.
She also received the Townhall Scholarship in conjunction with the Cavan Arts Office and will commence a project based on the lakes of Cavan while working from The Townhall studio in January 2023.
Describing her work, Kim said, “I paint what I love and what I find grounding.
"Filling my home and my world with the beauty of nature through art is the key. Be it an owl or a rose, or a white horse emerging from the darkness, this type of art gives me a sense of having the resilience of the natural world in my home, in an ever changing world."
