Margaret McKenna is an artist based in Cavan but, with a name like McKenna, has strong Monaghan roots as both her parents came from the Farney County.
Margaret's father told her stories about Monaghan as she was growing up and she always felt a connection to the land and its ancient lore.
Recently, she took time to walk the land of her parents' heritage and has researched the legends of Lough Muckno, the black horse of Rossmore Park and the fairy mound of Castleshane.
Now, she has painted what she walked and what she learned into a series of 15 landscape paintings for an exhibition which is currently showing in the Íontas Centre, Castleblayney until the 5th of November.
