Half the counties in Ireland, including Cavan and Monaghan, have fewer than ten GPs providing abortion services, according to new figures.
Today is the fourth anniversary of the repeal referendum and the National Women's Council are marking the anniversary by highlighting the "rural divide" affecting abortion care.
Figures from the HSE show thirteen counties have fewer than ten GPs providing services, while just 10% of GPs nationally have opted in to providing terminations.
Meanwhile, Cavan General Hospital is one of eight maternity units that are not providing abortion services.
However, HSE chief clinical officer Dr Colm Henry recently told TDs that Cavan will provide a full service once new consultant appointments are in place.
