More men than women are seeking support for drug or alcohol abuse in the region.
The Minister for National Drug Strategy Frank Feighan officially launched the Cavan and Monaghan Drug and Alcohol Service (CAMDAS) today in the crystal hotel in Cavan.
This service has been in operation since January, however, due to Covid could only have its official launch today.
Sanjay Gulati, the head of services, says that since starting operations 72% of all referrals have been men, with 59% of all referrals coming for alcohol abuse.
There have also been more referrals from county Cavan in that time at 73% compared to 27% in Monaghan.
