Applications have opened for the Sports Capital & Equipment Programme 2023 with increased thresholds for local and regional projects. The maximum grant for local clubs has increased from €150,000 to €200,000 while regionally, the grant has increased from €300,000 to €500,000.
This year there will also be a specific focus on climate action, sustainability and gender equality. Monaghan Senator, Robbie Gallagher, says the programme provides an "excellent opportunity" for local groups to secure funding for equipment, development and upgrading facilities.
He added that funding for Cavan and Monaghan last year reached "record levels". "The sports capital programme is eagarly awaited every year and this year is no different. I know last year, under Minister Jack Chambers, Monaghan and Cavan received a record amount of funding.
"And, we are all hoping that the same will apply this year. Applications are open now online and will be open until the 7th of September," Senator Gallagher said.
