A Cavan-based accountant and financial advisor said yesterday's budget was "very inflationary" and did "not tackle the cost of living crisis".
Mark Reilly is a senior partner at KBG Chartered Accountants with offices in Cavan, Longford, Bailieborough and Granard.
He told the Joe Finnegan Show earlier that "unfortunately this budget will have no effect on the cost of living crisis - prices are still up 20 to 25% more than last year".
He said everyone in the PAYE system would benefit from the taxation measures introduced however, and said a married couple with children will also do well from mortgage or rent relief, electricity credits and possibly free primary school meals.
However the financial advisor said he felt the Government was "out of touch" with the householder doing the weekly grocery shop, the single people in Ireland who are saving to emigrate, small businesses and anyone who lives outside the main cities.
