The Delta variant has led to an increase in Covid cases across the country.
Parts of the Northern Sound region have seen a doubling in the number of Covid-19 cases recorded.
Dr. Augustine Pereira said the increase is "not surprising" but people should be cautious. Dr. Augustine Pereira is the Director of Public Health North East with the HSE
He says:
people should avoid indoor gatherings, not socialise in large groups indoors and ensure there is good ventilation inside.
Speaking to Northern Sound today, Dr Pereira said the vaccination programme is working well as the number of Covid cases is increasing but it's not being followed with a major increase in the number of cases in hospital.
