A Castleblayney home, which has just just gone on the market, is believed to be the first home in Monaghan with a €1m price tag. Mobane House on the Dundalk Road in Blayney is a six-bedroomed detached property close to Lough Mukno. At almost 10,000 sq ft, the house boasts an indoor swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and snooker room and five acres of landscaped gardens.
The family selling the property, acquired a field next to Mobane House, which is also included in the sale. The only house in Monaghan to ask a six-figure price was the former home of Castleblayney teacher Sally Hughes and her businessman husband, Barry, who is originally from Armagh.
The architect-designed house was built in 1985 and renovated by the Hughes family who acquired it in 1991. Estate agent Liam Carthy says it's one of the finest properties to be brought to market in Monaghan: "This is an exceptional six-bedroom home which has been archjitecturally-designed and extends over 9,800 sq ft," Mr Carthy told Northern Sound, "The property also includes an indoor pool complex, which, includes a sauna, jacuzzi and pool room.
