A Castleblayney man who spent over 40 days in an induced coma after contracting Covid-19 is urging people to take the virus seriously.

Derek Wallace is a healthcare worker and was fighting for his life just days after developing a headache and fever at the end of October.

He was brought to hospital as his condition deteriorated, and was placed in an induced coma because he’d a difficulty breathing.

The 48 year says he was of good health up to that day, and has since recovered except for possible nerve-damage to his foot.

Derek told the Joe Finnegan Show that he wouldn’t wish his experience on anyone.
