Firefighters in Monaghan assisted in the rescue of cattle that had fallen into a slurry pit yesterday.
Castleblayney Fire Crew, who were wearing flood suits and had breathing apparatus, assisted in the animal rescue.
Monaghan's Chief Fire Officer, Dermot Brannigan, said the quick intervention and deployment of the fire crew led to the safe rescue of all of the animals.
Gas monitors were also used to monitor the atmosphere of the slatted shed for the safety of the first responders, as there were concerns about methane gases.
