A local Councillor has criticised a TD for “bashing the church for likes” after she questioned why an exception had been made on the number of people allowed attend mass in the latest Covid-19 restrictions.
Up to 50 people can attend masses, weddings, funerals and some other indoor events, despite the Government last night announcing a limit of six people indoors.
However, on Twitter Social Democrats TD Holly Cairns asked why the exception had been made.
Castleblayney Councillor Aoife McCooey criticised the comments and accused Deputy Cairns of “bashing the church for likes” and said some in the Dáil are intent on sowing division.
