The Castle Saunderson forest park is being 'underutilised' and there are calls for more to be done to allow public access.
Local Councillor John Paul Feeley says the site is a local amenity and an important historical location.
He's called for a plan to be drawn up to harness and protect the area, with his call gaining the support of Councillors.
Cavan County Council is examine how to progress plans for Castle Saunderson.
The park has seen investment in recent years with new signage and improvement works on walkways.
Speaking on The Wider View today, Councillor Feeley said the site is an important one for people locally and is an asset for the county:
