"Cash is an important element of the payments system in this country." That's according to Cavan-Monaghan Fianna Fail TD, Deputy Brendan Smith in relation to a statement recently issued by the NCT about going cashless.
Despite local concern, it has since been confirmed by Minister Jack Chambers that those who do not have access to online or other electronic payment systems will continue to have other options to pay for the NCT service.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Deputy Smith who raised his concerns on the matter with Minister Chambers "welcomed" the clarification. He added that Government should make this response clear to all agencies under the remit of government departments and also to large organisations that are delivering public services on behalf of the State.
