Local Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy has welcomed the resignation of Dara Calleary as Agriculture Minister.
Deputy Carthy, who's the party's agriculture spokesman, said people had lost faith in him after news of his attendance at the Oireachtas Golf Society event broke.
Speaking on The Joe Finnegan Show this morning he said politicians need to be held accountable.
Deputy Carthy also called for the resignation of EU Commissioner Phil Hogan as he's a Government appointee.
However, he stopped short of calling for the same from other public representatives, including Monaghan Councillor Paudge Connolly:
