Deputy Matt Carthy and Deputy Pauline Tully have been officially selected to run in the upcoming General Election. Sinn Fein held a convention last night in Cootehill for the Cavan Monaghan constituency. The party has decided to run two candidates in a hope to see both returned in the local constituency. 2020 was the first time Sinn Fein returned two TD’s for Cavan/Monaghan.
Cllr Cathy Bennett proposed Deputy Carthy for his bid to seek re-election and was seconded by Cllr Noel Keelan. While former Cavan Councillor Paddy McDonald proposed Deputy Pauline Tully to hold on to her seat for Cavan and which was seconded by Cllr Noel Connell. Newly elected Pat Cullen, MP for Fermanagh South Tyrone chaired the convention which was held in the Errigal Country House Hotel.
