Carrickmacross fire and rescue have welcomed the arrival of a brand new fire engine to their fleet.
The brand new 2024 Class B fire appliance was delivered to the Carrickmacross Fire Station on Friday. The appliance was built by Emergency One who are based in Scotland and is equipped with the latest in firefighting technology including internal air filtration and increased water flow
Chief Fire Officer for Monaghan, Dermot Brannigan, says the new appliance will improve the safety of the local fire crews and will help with their response to incidents.
"One important aspect of the new appliance is it's air filtration system where we remove the air particles that may exist post event and that ensures that our firefighters have a healthy environment at all times in the crew cabs, that's its a clean, safe environment. That's an important piece to ensure the wellbeing and continued safety of our fire crews as we move into different forms of risks that might be arising, particularly around contaminants following a combustion fire".
