The pop-up swimming pool opened in Carrickmacross in September has seen more visitors than most of the other locations in Ireland where it was installed before.
Monaghan County Council released the user numbers for the mobile pool's first term in Carrick. From September to the Halloween mid-term break, 220 individuals used the pool for swim lessons, aqua aerobics and other special classes. The maximum number of individuals that could use the pool is 300.
Booking slots for term two swimming lessons are already almost sold out and the Council has set up an expression of interest form has been opened to the public so as to assess other needs for the pool.
Carrickmacross councillor and member of the Monaghan Sports Partnership, Colm Carthy, said the figures bode well for the remainder of the time the pool is in situ and for the proposed new leisure centre in carrickmacross.
