The Convent Lands playground in Carrickmacross in Co Monaghan has reopened following its closure two years ago due to anti- social behaviour.
Local Councillor Colm Carthy said he has received confirmation that the facility is now open and ready for use.
An assessment on the local playground took place in recent weeks and the gates have opend on the play area this week.
A 2.1m high railings and gate have been installed and the grounds & equipment have been cleared and cleaned following the closure of the facility over the past two years.
The park will be opened and closed each day between 9am and 6pm in winter months and 9am and 9pm in summer months to ensure minimal anti-social behaviour and disturbances to equipment and residents in the area. Cllr Carthy says the opening of the local playground has been along tie coming but none the less a welcome development.
