A Carrickmacross nursing home was found to be non-compliant in the area of staffing during an unannounced HIQA inspection.
Castleross Nursing Home was subject to the inspection on the 10th of November.
During the unannounced inspection as Castleross Nursing Home on the 10th of November, inspectors observed a "relaxed and happy environment".
Residents told inspectors they were happy with the care they received and felt supported to lead a good quality life in the centre.
However, the inspectors deemed that a full review of staffing was required to ensure "safe levels of staffing at appropriate grades to meet the needs of residents in a safe and timely manner".
Inspectors said residents were "negatively impacted as a result" and added that further staffing supports were required, "in part due to the size and layout of the centre".
During the inspection, the staff nurse, due to numerous competing work priorities, was unable to complete the morning medication round in a timely manner and it was lunchtime before some residents received assistance with personal care and could leave their bedroom.
Castleross Nursing Home said it "will continue with their practice of using an evidence based assessment tool to review the needs of the people who live in Castleross and the staffing requirement appropriate to the needs of the Residents".
The nursing home was also "substantially compliant" in five areas, but these were risk-rated "yellow", which signifies a low risk.
Castleross has been tasked with bringing these areas into full compliance by the end of March.
