Carrickmacross native Catherine Martin is to launch a bid for the leadership of the Green Party.
The Dublin TD said last month she would give consideration to calls for her to challenge Eamon Ryan for the leadership.
She's received hundreds of nominations from party members around the country, with Cavan-Monaghan rep Tate Donnelly describing her as a "role model" who has proven herself as deputy leader.
She last night wrote to Green Party members confirming her intention to run.
Under Green Party rules a leadership contest must be held within six months of a general election.
Results of a ballot of members will be announced at the end of next month.
