Gardaí in County Monaghan are seeking the publics help in relation to an incident of illegal dumping.
According to Gardaí in Carrickmacross, three liquid cubes containing what is believed to be red diesel sludge were found prior to the weekend.
The incident is reported to have happened overnight on Thursday September 22nd into Friday, September 23rd in the Mullanavannog area of Donaghmoyne.
The scene was attended by the Fire Services and staff from Monaghan County Council and the waste was moved to a storage compound at Scotch Corner land fill site pending subsequent removal off site for treatment at an appropriately licensed waste facility.
To date in 2022, Monaghan County Council has responded to 17 incidents of diesel laundering waste dumping in the county.
Total costs incurred by Monaghan County Council during 2022 in dealing with the issue of diesel wash dumping are expected to be in the region of €100,000.
