Members of Carrickmacross Emmets GAA Club were recently presented with their €5,000 prize as winners of the 2023 Monaghan County award in this year's Texaco Support for Sport initiative.
The award was presented to the club 'to help fund the refurbishment of its pitch and playing area'.
Former Irish rugby international and broadcaster, Donncha O'Callaghan, who oversaw the judging process, described the Monaghan club as 'a really worthy winner'.
He added that through its success, Carrickmacross Emmets' generosity in allowing members of its community to access its facilities is applauded and that the €5,000 will make a "significant contribution" towards the club's goal of renovating its playing area.
Two previous Monaghan winners were Ballybay Pearse Brothers in 2021 and Castleblaney's Latton O'Rahilly's in 2022.
Entries for the 2024 Texaco Support for Sport initiative will open this Autumn.
