A Carrickmacross councillor has questioned AIB figures that say the ATM in the town has been "operational approximately 95% of the time over the past six months.
Colm Carthy claims the "reality on the ground is different" and that this issues is "happening more than five percent of the time".
An AIB letter to the Carrickmacross MD added that "we have seen a dramatic shift" to online banking.
However, Cllr Carthy said this shift has been "out of necessity, not choice".
AIB also noted that people can withdraw money from the Carrickmacross Post Office.
But PJ O'Hanlon asked what the "Plan B" is if the ATM is not working when the local post office is closed.
