A Carrickmacross councillor says he has "strong reservations" about upgrade works to the N2.
Last week, €6.6 million was allocated to Co Monaghan as part of a nationwide spend of over €676 million on greenways and national roads.
While €1 million of this has been earmarked for upgrade works to the N2 between Ardee and Castleblayney, there is no funding for the Clontibret to the border section of this scheme.
PJ O'Hanlon told yesterday's Carrickmacross-Castleblayney MD meeting that he was disappointed no money was forthcoming for the Clontibret section of the N2 scheme.
He added that the money for the N2 is being used to finish works that have already started.
He called on councilors to "keep an eye on this" and said he wasn't feeling "positive" about the N2 project.
