The Carrickmacross-Castleblayney LEA has seen the biggest year-on-year decrease of HAP properties nationwide.
There were 190 HAP properties in the area at the end of 2020, but this number dropped by 18% to 156 at the end of last year.
The number of active Housing Assistance Payment scheme properties across the country was over 60 thousand at the end of last year, an increase of 4.5 per cent on the same date in 2020.
The HAP scheme is a social housing support which sees local authorities paying landlords of private accommodation on behalf of tenants, who pay a rent contribution to them.
Carrickmacross-Castleblayney saw the biggest decrease in these properties, at 18%, followed closely by Ballybay-Clones, which accounted for the fourth largest decrease.
There were 123 HAP properties across Ballybay-Clones at the end of 2020, compared to 106 at the end of last year, a 14% decrease.
There was no yearly change in the Monaghan LEA, which had 277 HAP properties at the end of last year.
In Co Cavan, each LEA saw a yearly increase in the number of HAP properties.
There was a 3% increase in Cavan-Belturbet, rising from 254 in 2020, to 262 at the end of last year.
Ballyjamesduff also saw a 3% increase, from 87 in 2020 to 90 at the end of last year.
Meanwhile, there was a 10% increase in Bailieborough-Cootehill, the largest increase locally, standing at 112 last year, up from 102 the year previous.
