Over 3,000 Monaghan homes, businesses and farms near Carrickmacross can now connect to fibre broadband on National Broadband Ireland network.
The area covers the rural surrounds of Carrickmacross and includes areas such as Carnoe, Ballymackney and Drumgurra.
As the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, County Monaghan will receive €60M of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan.
Peter Hendrick is the Chief Executive Officer of National Broadband Ireland.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he said that he was "delighted" to announce that Monaghan premises near Carrickmacross can now order high-speed broadband services through the National Broadband Ireland network.
He added that this will enable users to experience the life-changing benefits that high-speed broadband provides.
