The super car event, Cannonball 2023, will begin tomorrow with stops in Cavan scheduled for the first day of the three day event. The event starts at 10.30am at Malahide Castle in Dublin with drivers expected to arrive at the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan for 1pm.
The route for the super car event will then finish on the first day at 6pm in Ballina town centre in Co Mayo. A fuel stop is also scheduled at Park Ri in Kells. Some 200 cars will be involved in which is the largest organised road trip in Europe featuring the finest cars on the planet.
Cannonball has already raised over 1.5 million euros for Irish Charities and brings a unique electric atmosphere to host towns all over the country. This year the group has chosen The Jack and Jill Children's Foundation as its partner charity.
Alan Bannon, Founder of Cannonball says people will come out along the route across the region tomorrow to take in the amazing sight that is Cannonball.
"When we have our official fuel and lunch stops and our official start and finish lines, they are all great and it's so exciting to see the huge crowd" he explained. "However, what's really unbelievable is over the years the amount of people you meet in-between our official stops on country roads and in towns and villages.
"What's lovely to see is that many people actually move their garden furniture out onto the side of the road almost and they're sitting with a cup of tea or a glass of wine waving the cars on. About 40% of our entries come from the UK and they're always blown away by the welcome they get along the road."
