It was revealed at a recent Monaghan County Council meeting that Nancy Smyth who is the Canadian Ambassador to Ireland will make a trip to the Farney county this Friday.
According to the Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council, Sean Conlon told those in attendance that Ms Smyth would be making her way across all three of the county's Municipal District areas.
Friday will also mark Ms Smyth's first ever journey to Monaghan since she was appointed to the role.
As part of her visit, Ms Smyth is keen to re-energise the Monaghan-Canadian links which are founded on the "twinning arrangement" in place with the maritime province of Prince Edward Island.
According to Cathaoirleach Sean Conlon, six people from Prince Edward Island, who had McKenna and McNally connections will also be paying a visit to the county on Friday.
