A campaigner for victims of abuse is hopeful that better state-funded psychological supports will be put in place for victims of crime and abuse.
Amy Barrett was abused by her father, who was sentenced to ten years in prison in 2017.
She says he faced "no waiting lists" for psychological supports in prison, while victims of abuse can face waiting lists of anywhere from three months to a year.
Cavan County Council is one of six local authorities that have passed motions supporting Ms Barrett's campaign.
That motion was raised by Cavan Councillor TP O'Reilly and seconded by Peter McVitty.
