Cavan's first Money Mule Awareness Campaign aimed at addressing the critical issue of money laundering across our country has been launched.
An event was held last week for Transition year and 6th year students regarding the important initiative being implemented by Cavan Credit Union and An Garda Siochana.
According to Gardai money muling has become more and more prevalent in our local communities and schools recently. This event outlined what the warning signs are for money muling, how individuals are recruited, the implications and legal impacts being convicted can be and what to do if you think you have been involved in money muling.
According to the local Credit Union we are seeing this more and more around Cavan, to help battle this Cavan Credit Unions have teamed up with the An Garda Siochana's Crime Prevention Unit
As part of the campaign, they presented educational sessions with schools in a bid for this vital topic for young people to understand, as awareness can help protect them from becoming unwilling participants in illegal activities.
