The coalition government in the south pledged €600m to the A5 project and €50 million towards the development of Casement Park.

The row over funding for Casement Park in Antrim versus money to develop Casment Park in Clones rolls on. Monaghan County Councillor PJ O'Hanlon weighed in on the conversation following a recent meeting with officials in the North to discuss the completion of the N2 road from Castleblayney to Ardee. He was joined by Councilor's David Maxwell and Seamus Treanor at the meeting with the North's Infrastructure Minister John O'Dowd where they discussed the connectivity between the N2 and the A5 road from Aughnacloy to Letterkenny in the North.

Earlier this year, the coalition government in the south pledged €600m to the A5 project and €50 million towards the development of Casement Park. PJ O'Hanlon said he does not object to the government funding projects in the North but since St Tiernach's Park in Clones needs €10 million investment, the government should spend that here first and only send €40 million to Antrim.
