There's a call to make counselling more available to people ahead of World Mental Health Day tomorrow.
The founder of CounsellingOnline.ie says Ireland needs a pandemic-type response to the mental health crisis facing the nation.
Psychotherapist Mary McHugh says people who were isolating during covid need help readjusting to society, and disconnection has taken a huge toll.
She says talk therapy needs to be more affordable to help people cope with anxiety:
"I suppose we started off really in shock and then there have been being put into houses with families, there's relationship issues, there's addiction and with counselling online, we are seeing it every day. And the problem is that people aren't able to afford it and it's a major issue at the moment."
