The Garda Commissioner must call to "halt" the implementation of the new operating policing model between Cavan, Monaghan and Louth.
That's according to James Morrisroe who is attached to the Cavan/Monaghan Garda Division and is the interim Deputy General Secretary with the Garda Representative Association.
The association, representing rank-and-file members of the force, is holding its annual conference this week. Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr Morrisroe criticised Justice Minister Helen McEntee's decision not to attend the annual conference after the association chose not to invite Garda Commissioner Drew Harris.
He also added that retention and recruitment remains an issue and called for ways to make the job "more attractive" to others:
