A Cavan councillor believes there is a need for extra supports in the sheep sector.
According to Fine Gael's Cllr TP O'Reilly, the farming sector in Ireland is "very important".
Speaking to Northern Sound, the local area representative in Virginia said the sector has taken a "beating" in recent years.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr O'Reilly said the time has come for the Government to step in and assist sheep farmers who are struggling.
He added that grants must be made available to help them through the current crisis.
