A Local Authority has passed a motion calling for better state funded psychological supports be put in place for victims of crime post-trial.
The motion was raised by Fine Gael's TP O'Reilly, who says victims are too often "left to their own devices" following the trial.
At a recent County Council meeting, he said it's "vital" that victims get support in cases of domestic and sexual abuse.
He added that while supports are given to the criminal, the "victim is sometimes forgotten about".
