By way of parliamentary question, Fianna Fáil TD for Cavan-Monaghan & North Meath, Niamh Smyth, called on the Minister for Health to provide funding for the expansion of Annalee Respite Facility.
In his response the Minister Stephen Donnelly confirmed that management met with the HSE's Estates Department at the beginning of this year and an application for funding to extend the Annalee property for the provision of additional space was submitted for consideration as part of the 2023 Estimates process.
Deputy Smyth told Northern Sound that her understanding now is that Disability Services will be informed of the outcome of the funding application when the capital plan is advised upon in the new year.
She also stressed the importance of respite for families and carers who are on duty 24/7 and require these breaks to recharge energy levels and have a well-earned rest. Meanwhile, Annalee View Respite Centre provides respite to both adults and children on alternative weeks.
