Calls for works to be carried out on the M3 junction in Butlersbridge were made during this week’s meeting of the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District.
Cllr Brendan Fay said that another accident occurred at the junction last month and it was an issue that needed to be addressed.
Cavan County Council’s executive said that engineering consultants have been appointed in respect of the matter and their focus will be on designing a junction for the area.
Meanwhile, the meeting was told that a vehicle being driven at 194km/h was clocked in the locality by gardai recently and members agreed that such a speed was unacceptable.
Calls were also made for a new ramp in Belturbet village.
Cllr Sean Smith added that he supported these calls stating "The more the council can do for the area, the better."
