Local Councillor John Paul Feeley has raised the need for additional traffic calming measures to be implemented in Killeshandra as a matter of urgency. Whilst noting some good work has been done in the past and indeed ongoing on the Cavan Road in the town, he highlighted a particular need for measures to be placed adjacent to Market Avenue and also on the Ballyconnell Road at the Rath Church.
The Fianna Fail Councillor said Killeshandra is a busy town and fortunate to have Lakeland Dairies operating in the town, he also added that it is fortunate that there are a large group of voluntary houses around the Resource Centre which are accessed via Market Avenue.
Cllr Feeley said a number of residents have highlighted that if cars are parked on Main Street it greatly inhibits visibility for a car exiting Market Avenue. Furthermore, adjacent to the Rath Church in the Ballyconnell Road there is an issue with speeding both coming into and out of Killeshandra which needs to be addressed, Cllr Feeley added
In highlighting his concerns, the Cavan councillor welcomed road painting work completed around Killeshandra in recent weeks particularly repainting the pedestrian crossing and parking at Killeshandra Central School and at the new Primary Care Centre and at St. Brigid's Church.
