A local councillor has called for traffic calming measures to be enhanced at Scoil Bhride in Killeshandra. Cllr Peter McVitty raised the issue at a recent meeting of the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District.
According to the Fine Gael representative, the increasing number of students attending the school means that safety works must be completed sooner rather than later. Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr McVitty said "massive work" has been completed on this area before, however more is needed to "slow traffic down."
He added that with extra students now attending the local school, additional safety measures "must be looked at" for the health and wellbeing of pedestrians and motorists. "Motorists must be careful and the speed needs to be looked at closely in order to create a safer environment for local school children," he explained.
